Abstract

Cervical cancer is one of the most common cancers among women worldwide and remains a significant public health issue in Indonesia. Early detection through HPV DNA testing is a primary preventive strategy, yet the success of screening programs is influenced by the knowledge and attitudes of women of reproductive age toward cervical cancer. This study aimed to analyze the knowledge and attitudes of women of reproductive age regarding cervical cancer prevention through HPV DNA testing at Posyandu in Mojoasri Village, as well as to examine the relationship between knowledge and attitudes. A quantitative descriptive-analytic study with a cross-sectional approach was conducted. A total of 50 women aged 15–49 years were selected using purposive sampling. Data were collected through questionnaires and analyzed using univariate, bivariate, and simple linear regression methods. The results showed that the majority of respondents were aged 20–30 years (44%)had completed high school (40%), were married (84%), and worked as housewives (42%). Sixty-four percent of respondents had received information about cervical cancer, yet only 10% had ever undergone early detection testing. The average knowledge score was 4.86 (moderate category), significantly influenced by education (p = 0.004) and information exposure (p = 0.001). The average attitude score was 39.24 (neutral category), significantly affected by education (p = 0.000), information exposure (p = 0.000), and age (p = 0.030). A strong positive correlation was found between knowledge and attitude (r = 0.648; p = 0.000), with knowledge contributing 37.5% (R² = 0.375) to attitude, where each one-point increase in knowledge increased attitude scores by 3.87 points. In conclusion, the knowledge and attitudes of women of reproductive age toward cervical cancer prevention through HPV DNA testing are still moderate to neutral. Education, information exposure, and age play important roles in shaping knowledge and attitudes; therefore, community-based health education, particularly through Posyandu, is recommended to improve knowledge and foster positive attitudes toward early detection of cervical cancer
