SOCIALIZATION OF INHIBITORY ACTIVITY OF PIRDOT LEAF EXTRACT (SAURAIA VULCANI KORTH.) ON GROWTH OF CANDIDA ALBICANS

Abstract

Fungal infectious diseases are of particular concern in different countries with tropical climates. Indonesia with a tropical climate caused by humid air, and sanitation is still lacking. Indonesia has a densely populated environment and low socioeconomic levels. Candida albicans fungus is a fungus that causes candidiasis and causes canker sores, lesions on the skin, vulvavaginistis, candida in urine (candiddiduria), and gastrointestinal candidiasis. One type of plant that is efficacious as a medicine is pirdot (Sauraia vulcani Korth.) and the part that is usually used is the leaf part. Previous research has had pirdot leaf extract activity inhibiting the growth of candida albicans fungus. The concentration of pirdot leaves 80% has the most effective activity of blandness against fungi. The research carried out used ketokonazol as a comparison. Cultivation of pirdot plants can be done alone so that it can be used for personal purposes in the midst of the current pandemic. The target of this socialization is pharmacy students of Institut Kesehatan MEDISTRA Lubuk Pakam. This becomes important for the next research foundation to produce research related to antifungal products in the future
