The Medical Committee plays a strategic role in ensuring hospital service quality through the management of clinical authority, professional development of medical staff, and oversight of quality and patient safety. However, hospital staff’s knowledge and attitudes toward the role of the Medical Committee still need to be strengthened to ensure optimal implementation of these functions. This Community Service activity aimed to improve hospital staff’s knowledge and attitudes regarding the strategic role of the Medical Committee in service quality through a workshop conducted at RSUD Batu Bara. The activity was carried out in April 2024 and involved 25 hospital staff members as respondents. The methods included material delivery, interactive discussions, and evaluation using pre-test and post-test to measure changes in knowledge and attitudes. Pre-test results showed that most respondents were in the moderate (44.0%) and low (32.0%) knowledge categories, while only 24.0% were in the good category. After the workshop, the proportion of respondents with good knowledge increased to 72.0%, while the moderate category decreased to 24.0% and the low category to 4.0%. In addition, positive attitudes improved across all indicators, including collaborative attitudes between staff and the Medical Committee (36.0% increase), positive attitudes toward the strategic role of the Medical Committee, clinical governance, and openness to clinical audits (each increased by 32.0%), as well as increased support for patient safety, professional ethics, and active participation in hospital quality improvement programs. These findings indicate that the workshop was effective in improving hospital staff’s knowledge and attitudes, which is expected to encourage active involvement in continuous efforts to enhance service quality and patient safety.
