Abstract

Background: Sectio caesarea may cause postoperative pain, limited mobility, and decreased ability to perform Activity of Daily Living during recovery. Low adherence to early mobilization may hinder postoperative recovery. Digital reminders through WhatsApp may provide continuous education, motivation, and reminders to support patient adherence. Objective:To determine the effectiveness of WhatsApp Reminder in improving early mobilization adherence and Activity of Daily Living in post sectio caesarea patients. Methods: This study used a descriptive case study design involving four post sectio caesarea patients who received WhatsApp Reminder intervention for seven days. Early mobilization adherence was assessed based on the completion of scheduled mobilization stages, while Activity of Daily Living was measured using the Barthel Index on day 0 and day 7. Data were collected through monitoring and communication via WhatsApp. Results:All respondents demonstrated high adherence to early mobilization, with two respondents achieving 100% adherence, while the other two achieved 92.3% and 84.6%. All respondents showed increased Barthel Index scores, with three reaching a score of 100 and one reaching 95 on day 7. All WhatsApp Reminder messages were delivered and read, and most received responses. Conclusion: WhatsApp Reminder was effective in improving early mobilization adherence and Activity of Daily Living in post sectio caesarea patients. This intervention has potential as a simple mobile health-based nursing care alternative to support continuity of care during post-discharge recovery.
