Hypertension during the third trimester of pregnancy is one of the pregnancy complications that may increase the risk of adverse outcomes for both the mother and the fetus. One non-pharmacological approach that may help control blood pressure is the consumption of young coconut water, which contains natural electrolytes, particularly potassium, that contribute to fluid balance and blood pressure regulation. This study aimed to analyze the effect of young coconut water on blood pressure among third-trimester pregnant women at Siswani Clinic, Lubuk Pakam, in 2026. A quantitative study with a pre-experimental one-group pretest-posttest design was employed. The sample consisted of 24 third-trimester pregnant women selected using the total sampling technique. Blood pressure measurements were taken before and after seven days of young coconut water consumption using a sphygmomanometer and an observation sheet. Data were analyzed using the Wilcoxon Signed Rank Test. The findings showed that the mean pre-intervention blood pressure was 152.25 mmHg systolic and 95.92 mmHg diastolic, while the post-intervention mean blood pressure decreased to 135.25 mmHg systolic and 86.04 mmHg diastolic. Statistical analysis yielded a p-value of 0.000 (p < 0.05), indicating a significant effect of young coconut water on reducing blood pressure among third-trimester pregnant women. Therefore, young coconut water may be considered a non-pharmacological alternative to help maintain blood pressure during pregnancy.
