Authorship Criteria

Authorship Criteria

Jurnal Pengmas Kestra (JPK) applies strict authorship standards to ensure transparency, accountability, and integrity in scholarly publications. Authorship eligibility is determined based on substantial contributions to the planning, implementation, and evaluation of community service activities, as well as the preparation of scholarly manuscripts. Authorship must not be granted solely on the basis of administrative involvement, financial support, academic position, or institutional affiliation.

1. Minimum Requirements for Authorship

Every individual listed as an author must meet all four (4) of the following criteria:

  1. Substantial Contribution: Making significant intellectual contributions to the development of ideas or concepts, identification of community needs, planning and design of community service programs, development of implementation methods, evaluation of activities, or analysis and interpretation of community service outcomes.

  2. Manuscript Preparation: Actively participating in drafting the manuscript or critically reviewing and revising its important intellectual content related to the reported community service activities.

  3. Final Approval: Reviewing and providing final approval of the manuscript version intended for publication.

  4. Accountability: Agreeing to be accountable for all aspects of the scholarly work and cooperating to ensure that any questions or concerns regarding the accuracy, originality, or integrity of any part of the community service manuscript are appropriately investigated and resolved.

Important Note: Individuals whose contributions are limited to financial support (funding), administrative assistance, provision of facilities, logistical support, activity documentation, basic information collection without substantial intellectual involvement, or general language editing and proofreading do not automatically qualify for authorship.

Such contributions may be recognized in the Acknowledgements section, provided that the individuals concerned have given their consent.

2. Responsibilities of the Corresponding Author

The Corresponding Author serves as the primary point of contact between Jurnal Pengmas Kestra (JPK) and all co-authors throughout the manuscript submission, peer-review, revision, and post-publication processes.

The Corresponding Author is responsible for:

  1. Ensuring Authorship Eligibility: Verifying that all listed authors meet the four authorship criteria established by the journal.

  2. Preventing Authorship Misconduct: Ensuring that no eligible contributors are omitted from the author list (ghost authorship) and that no individuals are included as authors without contributions that satisfy the authorship criteria (gift/guest authorship).

  3. Obtaining Final Manuscript Approval: Ensuring that all authors have read, reviewed, and approved the final version of the manuscript before its submission to Jurnal Pengmas Kestra (JPK) for publication consideration.

Authorship determination and the responsibilities of each author must adhere to the principles of transparency, accountability, and scholarly publishing integrity as recommended by the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE).
