Manuscript Type

Jurnal Pengmas Kestra (JPK) accepts scholarly manuscripts presenting the outcomes of systematically implemented community service activities that have clearly defined objectives, address the needs of community partners, and contribute to the advancement of knowledge and professional practice, particularly in the health sciences.

Submitted manuscripts must clearly identify the problems or challenges faced by community partners, describe the methods or interventions implemented, present the outcomes and achievements of the activities, and discuss their benefits, impact, and potential sustainability.

All manuscripts must align with the Focus and Scope of Jurnal Pengmas Kestra (JPK) and comply with the journal's author guidelines and publication ethics policies.

Jurnal Pengmas Kestra (JPK) accepts the following six types of manuscripts:

1. Community Service Article

This type of article reports the implementation and outcomes of community service activities designed to address the identified needs of community partners or target populations.

Activities may include health education, health promotion, community outreach, training, mentoring, capacity building, community empowerment, or other interventions relevant to health and community well-being.

Manuscripts must clearly describe the initial conditions and needs of the community partners, the objectives of the activities, implementation methods, stages of intervention, achieved outcomes, and the benefits provided to the target community.

Articles should demonstrate tangible contributions to addressing community needs and improving knowledge, skills, practices, or health-related conditions.

2. Community Empowerment and Assistance Article

This type of article focuses on community empowerment, mentoring, and capacity-building initiatives aimed at improving the knowledge, skills, independence, capabilities, and participation of community members in addressing health-related challenges.

Manuscripts should describe the empowerment strategies employed, the characteristics and participation of community partners, the implementation process, and the changes or improvements achieved in community capacity.

Particular attention should be given to community engagement, local participation, the effectiveness of empowerment approaches, and opportunities for maintaining program outcomes after the activities have been completed.

3. Science and Technology Implementation Article

This type of article reports the application of scientific knowledge, appropriate technology, innovative solutions, educational media, or practical tools to address community problems, particularly those related to health and well-being.

Manuscripts must explain the rationale for selecting the technology or innovation, its relevance to community needs, the implementation process, the involvement of community partners, and the outcomes of its application.

Authors should also discuss the practical benefits, effectiveness, limitations, and potential sustainability or wider application of the technology or innovation within community settings.

4. Research-Based Community Service Article

This type of article presents community service activities developed from scientific findings, established evidence, or evidence-based practices that are applied to address the needs of community partners.

Manuscripts must explain the relationship between the underlying scientific evidence and the community service intervention, including how the findings or knowledge were translated into practical activities.

The article should describe the implementation methods, community participation, evaluation procedures, achieved outcomes, and benefits of applying scientific knowledge to real-world community problems.

Research-Based Community Service Articles must emphasize the practical implementation, outcomes, and impact of community service activities rather than merely presenting research findings without actual application in the community.

5. Community Service Program Evaluation Article

This type of article presents a systematic evaluation of the implementation, effectiveness, achievements, or outcomes of a community service program using evaluation methods appropriate to its objectives.

Evaluations may address changes in knowledge, skills, behaviors, community participation, access to or utilization of health services, or other relevant indicators of program performance and community benefit.

Manuscripts must clearly describe the evaluation objectives, indicators, measurement instruments or data sources, evaluation procedures, analytical methods, and findings.

Authors should also discuss the implications of the evaluation results and provide recommendations for program improvement, future implementation, and long-term sustainability.

6. Best Practice and Community Service Case Study Article

This type of article documents valuable experiences, innovative approaches, successful practices, or specific cases arising from the implementation of community service activities.

The reported activities should provide meaningful lessons, practical insights, or approaches that may be adapted or replicated in other community settings.

Manuscripts must systematically describe the background and context of the community problem, characteristics of community partners, approaches and strategies employed, implementation processes, achieved outcomes, supporting factors, and challenges encountered.

Authors should highlight the lessons learned, factors contributing to the success or limitations of the activities, and recommendations for developing or improving similar community service programs.

Case study articles must provide systematic descriptions and adequate critical analysis rather than merely documenting activities or presenting descriptive reports without meaningful evaluation.
