Review Policy
Jurnal Pengmas Kestra (JPK) applies a peer-review process to ensure the quality, originality, relevance, and academic integrity of published articles related to community service activities.
All submitted manuscripts are evaluated by the editorial team and qualified reviewers before a final publication decision is made.
1. Initial Editorial Screening
All submitted manuscripts undergo an initial evaluation by the editorial team to assess:
-
Suitability with the journal's focus and scope.
-
Compliance with the journal's manuscript template and author guidelines.
-
Originality and similarity screening using Turnitin.
-
Completeness and quality of manuscript content.
-
Compliance with publication ethics.
Manuscripts that do not meet the journal's requirements may be returned to the authors for revision or rejected before peer review.
2. Peer Review Process
Manuscripts that pass the initial screening are assigned to two qualified reviewers for evaluation using a blind peer-review method.
The reviewers evaluate manuscripts independently based on:
-
Originality and relevance of the community service activities.
-
Clarity of objectives and identification of community needs.
-
Appropriateness of program implementation methods.
-
Community participation and involvement of partners.
-
Quality of reported outcomes and program evaluation.
-
Benefits and impact of the activities on the community.
-
Clarity of conclusions and relevance of references.
Reviewers provide constructive comments and recommendations to improve the quality of the manuscript.
3. Reviewer Recommendations
Based on their evaluations, reviewers may recommend:
-
Accept Submission: The manuscript meets the journal's publication requirements.
-
Revisions Required: The manuscript requires improvements before further consideration.
-
Resubmit for Review: The manuscript requires substantial revisions and another review.
-
Decline Submission: The manuscript does not meet the journal's publication standards.
The editorial team communicates reviewer comments and recommendations to the corresponding author.
4. Editorial Decision
The editor evaluates the reviewers' recommendations and the revised manuscript before making a publication decision.
The final decision may include acceptance, a request for further revision, or rejection.
The final publication decision is made by the editor and is considered final.
5. Review and Publication Timeline
The estimated time from manuscript submission to publication is approximately 4–6 weeks.
However, this timeline is not guaranteed and may vary depending on reviewer availability, manuscript quality, editorial evaluation, and the time required by authors to complete revisions.
Authors are encouraged to respond promptly to editorial and reviewer comments to support an efficient publication process.
6. Publication Ethics and Confidentiality
Editors and reviewers must maintain the confidentiality of submitted manuscripts and conduct evaluations objectively and professionally.
Reviewers must disclose any potential conflicts of interest and decline assignments that may compromise their impartiality.
Jurnal Pengmas Kestra (JPK) follows the ethical principles of the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) to maintain fairness, transparency, and integrity throughout the peer-review process.
